I'm a mom. Most of the people that will read this blog are fellow moms. As moms, we make decisions about our children all the time. How to raise them, how to feed them, how to educate them, how to keep them healthy... and for some reason, women are always second guessing themselves.
I have friends that are on opposite sides of just about any parenting or political option you can think of. Homeschooling vs non-homeschooling; breast vs bottle; cloth vs disposable; whole food vs processed; vaccines vs non vaxing; circumsizing vs non-circumsizing; republican vs democrat vs none of the above; taking children to nursery vs keeping them during service.... the list is nearly infinite.
None of these things should be an "us vs them" thing, but too often is. A friend recently wrote this article on her blog, that I think sums up why there is such oposition in our choices: Judged or Judging.
On the internet, we find a LOT of judging and name calling. Women that do not tow a particular line (that of the writer's) are deemed lesser mothers, wives, women. Because of this, I find that when I post something based on my own choices, people that don't do the same as I do feel judged and offended.
I say things and post things based on what is going on in my life. Period. Somethings I feel that the Lord has called me to do, other things are just choices based on what I feel is best for my family, some things I do because of the unique health issues that my children have. Still other things I'm on the fence about-- I may hop down onto one side or the other, or I may continue seeing both sides.
Please do not think that because I post something that is "against" what you do in your family, that I am judging you. Generally, when I post something I'm thinking "my like-minded friends/friends that are still sorting this through, will enjoy/be encouraged/learn from this; NOT "oh, I'm going to stick it to all those people who aren't doing it 'right'." I am doing the best I can for *MY* family, and you must do the best you can for *YOUR* family. Be confident in what you do, do it for the Lord, and if I post something, don't assume that I'm looking down on people that don't do as I do. God only gave me the energy to tend to my own family.
