Plans are comming together!
I reserved our hotel through Priceline. I always do our family's reservations with them, and have never been dissapointed. I use the bid your own price option and regularly get nice hotels at about 1/3 of the regular price. I couldn't get the price I wanted in downtown DC, so we will be in Arlington, but really, not that bad, just a metro trip away. The hotel has shuttle service to the metro station.
Looking at the maps and Amtrak schedule, I found it would be closer to arrive in Alexandria, which is a less expensive ticket-- GREAT NEWS!! Those tickets will be purchased this weeek.
I always say to be careful about what you say you will or won't do. God listens, and He LAUGHS!! When I first began to plan this trip for the girls and I, I said we will NOT see, look at, visit, or otherwise have ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING associated with the military or airplanes!
Yeah, God laughed.
I mapped the hotel. It is next door to the Air Force Memorial. Our "backyard" is Arlington Cemetary. Appearantly the only grocery within walking distance is the Marine Corps Exchange. AND get this... the closest metro station is at the Pentagon. Yes, while I told Dan that I fully intend to close my eyes as the shuttle passes the Air Force Memorial, we will be going to the Pentagon every day to catch our train--can't close my eyes for that! LOL
I can't wait to spend the week in DC with my girlies. Aliana (8) is looking forward to the National Gallery of Art. Bekah (5) doesn't know that we are going yet-- just too much of a wait for a 5 year old, but I think she and Lyddie will really enjoy the Zoo and the hotel pool-- and the stroller! they LOVE riding in the stroller!

Exciting!!!
